Phoenix teenager killed during an argument with another teenager

Durban – A 16-year-old suspect has been arrested for fatally stabbing another 16-year-old boy outside a corner shop on Southvale Avenue, in Phoenix.

Phoenix Police Station spokesperson Captain Louise Naidoo said the teenagers had allegedly been arguing over whose district they were in. A fight had ensued.

As they continued fighting, the suspect took out a butterfly knife. The victim advanced towards the suspect and the suspect stabbed him once in the chest.

“The victim was then taken to a clinic (and declared) dead on arrival. The murder weapon was entered in the SAPS 13 register,” said Naidoo.

Meanwhile, a witness to the murder, who asked to remain anonymous, said she had been with the suspect and another friend at the time of the murder.

The three of us were at the shop. The victim and a girl walked pass us. They looked at us and our friend said they were looking at us,” the witness said.

“About half-an-hour later, they walked past us again. The suspect and victim started arguing and talking about districts. Our friend went to the victim by the shop. The suspect and victim continued to argue. I didn’t realise the suspect had a goni (knife). The victim came towards the suspect, the suspect flicked the goni and the victim got poked. I don’t even know where the suspect got a goni from.

“The victim went into the shop and then we heard he died outside the shop. The suspect was scared, so he ran away, and I went with him to the (Phoenix) plaza. His family came and took us to the police station. I’m shocked. Blood was all over, and I didn’t know what to do.”

Kavendran Madurai, also a witness to the incident, explained what he saw.

“They were arguing over sections. The victim went inside the shop. I went to him to resolve the matter. When he came out, they (the victim and suspect) were arguing and that’s how this happened,” Madurai said.

Keith Govender, the suspect’s uncle, said justice must be served.

“I got a call around 3pm, saying my nephew stabbed someone and he was rushed (for medical care). A few minutes later, I got another call saying he had passed away. I had goosebumps,” Govender said.

“It’s hurtful that a child lost his life. It’s shocking to know my nephew stabbed someone. My brothers took him to the police station. We didn’t know he had a knife. He did the wrong thing. This area isn’t a nice place. I want to pass on my condolences to the family and offer my support to them. I also lost a child and I know how hard it is.”

Police are investigating a case of murder.

Victim shoots Robber, then appears in Court?

Durban—A member of the community policing forum is expected to meet senior Durban police officers over the treatment of a victim who allegedly shot a robber who snatched his phone on Florida Road.

The 31-year-old victim, whose name is being withheld, is expected to make his first court appearance at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on charges of attempted murder.

Police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said that on Tuesday night a 27-year-old man was shot between Florida Road and Lambert Road in Morningside.

“It is alleged the injured victim was attempting to rob the arrested suspect. The suspect drew his firearm and shot the victim in the arm and back,” Ngcobo said.

She said Berea police were investigating the incident.

Zain Soosiwala, spokesperson for eThekwini Secure, a private security company, said a man had alighted from a white Toyota Etios and walked up to the restaurant where the robber allegedly grabbed the victim’s phone.

“This particular crime is prevalent in most parts of Durban and recently Florida Road. The victim ran after the robber with the intention of getting his phone back. It is alleged that when he approached the vehicle and while the robber was trying to get in, a knife was pointed at him. The victim allegedly drew his firearm and shot him in self-defence. The car drove off, leaving the robber behind,” he said.

Soosiwala said several cases with the same modus operandi have been reported to police over a period.

“What the CPF is disgusted at is the treatment police meted out to the victim of the robbery. The police did not handle the crime scene properly and contaminated vital evidence. It is appalling. The victim suffered an anxiety attack and was rushed to hospital, where he was sedated,” Soosiwala said.

The victim was released into his parents’ custody, but Soosiwala claims police arrived in the early hours and carried him out of the house and placed him in a police cell.

“Surprisingly, they did not put the robber under police guard and treated him with kid gloves. The incident became a personal attack on the CPF for questioning the way the scene was handled. There were also racial remarks made,” he said.

Soosiwala said a case would be lodged with the Independent Police Investigative Directorate on Thursday.

Emer-G-Med Paramedics said a man sustained a gunshot wound to his arm and was treated and stabilised before being taken to hospital.

5 Foreigners arrested

Five illegal foreign truck drivers have been arrested in Durban in the first hour of a law enforcement operation aimed at ensuring compliance in the freight and logistics industries on Thursday morning.
13/01/22

The operation, which the KwaZulu-Natal government said would be the first of many, was scheduled to be held at three sites around the city, including Maydon Wharf, which is used daily by trucks to access the port.

The operation, which included the police, defence force, traffic authorities and the departments of home affairs and labour, focused on:

inspecting and verifying the validity of truck drivers’ licences and work permits;
enforcing traffic regulations; and fighting crime.

The operation comes in the wake of recent violent truck protests in KZN and complaints by local truck drivers about foreigners being employed by SA trucking companies in preference to them.

KwaZulu-Natal Premier Sihle Zikalala said five drivers had been arrested for not being in possession of proper documentation and he expected the number to increase.

“We are doing this because there have been complaints about the domination of foreign nationals in the freight and logistics industry.

“These foreign nationals are supposed to be driving with permits and all required documents. In most cases you find that most of them are driving without these documents,” he said.

Zikalala called on labour minister Thulas Nxesi “to expedite the policy that will regulate the employment of truckers in SA”.

“We don’t believe SA companies that are based here should prioritise people from outside SA. That’s why we call on the minister of labour to expedite the policy.”

Zikalala urged local truck driver bodies to raise issues by engaging the government as opposed to burning trucks and blockading roads.

“We will also be engaging with the freight and logistics industry. If they prioritise South Africans and employ people who are local, that will help solve the problem,” he said.

Zikalala called on the freight and trucking industry to stop “causing problems” by not employing local drivers.

“It’s not that we are saying foreign drivers can’t drive in SA. We are saying that if the company is based somewhere in Africa, they are fine to come and drive here with the proper documents.

“If the company is based in SA, let that company prioritise South Africans.

“We believe operations like these will help us reduce the complaints and violent protests. If we continue these operations on a daily basis, the complaints from drivers will be reduced.

“They can see for themselves we are working to address their concerns.”

He was speaking to media during the law enforcement operation at Bayhead Road leading to the Durban Harbour.

“We would also call on the associations of truck drivers that are operating daily, if there are issues, let us not block the road and burn trucks, let’s engage.”

Zikalala added that operations were not once off, but “will continue”.

“Government is practically doing these operations. If we continue these operations on a daily basis, the complaints from drivers will reduce. They are here and see for themselves that we are working hard to address their concerns. That will help us reduce those protests.”

The government has been engaging with truck driver forum ATDF to try and find a solution to the foreign truck driver employment issue.

In their last meeting on 5 January 2022, it was suggested that ATDF register as a workers union representing employed and unemployed workers but it remains to be seen if they would.

Why Pay For My Website – (Real website vs Free internet site)

The first risk of website security is the hijacking of network traffic . For example, an e-commerce business that sells flowers has had very good order conversions on Baidu. As a result, it was recently found that when users opened the website, large-scale pornographic advertisements were inserted, resulting in a very low conversion rate of the website. The user did the test and found that it was hijacked. After being hijacked, we gave the site plan and guidance, and the phenomenon of subsequent hijacking disappeared. Network traffic hijacking is very common, and site traffic loss is about 20%, which is very harmful to webmasters.

The second risk: the return hijacking of search is a common fake Baidu. Users click on a third-party site by visiting Baidu, and when they roll back on the browser, they jump to a fake Baidu. This situation is extremely harmful to users. It is absolutely not allowed by Baidu.

The third risk: the website is hacked and the Trojan horse is attached ; it will lead to the placement of malicious advertisements on the website without the website’s knowledge, and this risk may even make the website bear legal responsibility.

2. Website Security Response Plan

Regarding the above risks, network traffic hijacking and search return hijacking can all be solved through HTTPS, and currently search has given good support for HTTPS; the website has been hacked, and the more mature way is to use host protection products or Third-party web protection products do your server’s website security management.

For webmasters, there are mainly two options. The first is to do it by yourself, to do HTTPS transformation by yourself, to do your own operation and maintenance of host protection products, and to manage it yourself, as well as some targeted development. The disadvantage of choosing host protection independently is that there are many products. You must make a choice according to your own technical and business needs . Moreover, many products are not owned by the same family. To organically combine them to form a system defense, it will take a long time to achieve effective results, and these consume a lot of resources on the server, so you can do upgrades and maintenance by yourself later. operate.

The second is more convenient, using cloud WAF to prevent the website from being hacked , and using the cloud platform for website HTTPS transformation.

The advantage of using cloud waf to solve problems is that the deployment of the product is very convenient. All traffic passes through this platform. Every time you visit the cloud platform, the content of the response will be screened according to the waf engine. It can prevent you from being malicious on the Internet. Another advantage is that it does not consume much of the server, because the construction is done on the cloud platform, so you don’t need to worry about future upgrades.
